Chateau/Producer: | King Estate | Wine Name: | Vin Glace | Country: | USA | State: | Oregon | Wine Score: | 88 | Notes: | This wine is a bright, clear yellow, the color of citrine. It's thick, coating the side of the glass when swirled. It is sweet and fruity, with a taste like dried pineapple, but with a sharp acid flavor (like fresh pineapple...). It burns a little, like brandy. It's tasty, but I prefer something sweeter and less sharp in a dessert wine. Bonny Doon's faux ice wine is better in my book, but this one grows on you after a glass or two. | Tasting Date: | 2004-07-12 | Varietal: | pinot gris | Production Notes: | This is a "faux" ice wine made from grapes frozen after harvest. (Real ice wine is made from grapes that freeze on the vine and are picked frozen.) | Price US$: | 18.39 | Source: | Calandro's Supermarket, Baton Rouge, LA |
