Chateau/Producer:Alice White
Wine Name:Shiraz
Country:Australia
State:Southeastern Australia
Region:Southeastern Australia
Wine Score:67
Notes:The color is a very dark garnet, almost black. This wine shows strong legs. It has a medium-strength nose of jammy berries--blackberry, raspberry. The flavor, though, is a bit thin and watery, with vague fruit, high acidity, and an element of bitterness. There's also a sort of weird finish that alternates between jammy fruitiness and bitterness.

I bought this wine because it was available in a quarter-bottle, perfect for a single big glass, and I'd seen the brand around and thought that it might be similar to Yellowtail or Rosemount, other reasonably-priced Australian wines. I haven't tasted Yellowtail lately, but this is certainly no Rosemount. I can't say that I would find it that bad in a blind tasting, but I don't think I'll buy it again.
Tasting Date:2005-04-01
Varietal:shiraz
Additional Notes:I purchased this at $1.89/quarter bottle.
Price US$:7.56
