Not sure what to get your sweetheart for Valentine's Day? Perhaps you want to consider that most inexplicabe combination of the traditional imaginable: a chocolate-covered bottle of Champagne. |
| I learned about this delightful new bit of uselessness from spam, so I can't in good conscience link you to the product. (If you respond to spam, you are the reason spam is everywhere!) But I'll say this: the wine on offer, dipped in a lovely covering of either white or dark chocolate, was Chauvignon, a blanc de noirs sparkling wine made from the Cabernet sauvignon grape. That's rather interesting even when it's not coated in chocolate.
Am I the only one getting a mental picture of how to enjoy this product that is more messy than romantic? How do you eat this? Crack it off the glass? And then take your chocolate-smeared bottle, wipe it down, and pour out the champagne? Please, if you've experienced this, enlighten us all--how was it? | You can find out more about Chauvignon here. And any good Google search can find you some of that chocolate-covered goodness. | |

Chocolate covered champagne... Posted by Caralyn on 2006-02-14 09:16:00 | I was looking for a unique gift for my baby sister's 30th birthday and ran across a place in California that does the chocolate covered champagne/wine thing. I didn't send her a bottle of Dom, but did spend about $75 on a nice bottle of champagne... SHE LOVED IT!! And her friends thought it was the coolest gift. Since then, they have all sent the chocolate covered gift and have had nothing but rave reviews. |
Chocolate covered champagne Posted by Ron B on 2007-12-16 01:49:38 | Check this out. Found these guys on about.com at http://wine.about.com/od/holidayswithwine/a/winegifts.htm listed as top "Gift Ideas for Wine Lovers". I ordered a bottle and what a hit! No mess peel of sleeve leaves you with a clean untouched bottle of champagne and a “crust” of chocolate to indulge in. They are SweetTraders.com. It may be the same company Caralyn referred to, as they are in California. |
