It's a lightly sparkling (frizzante) sweet red wine. The color is a nice purply-red; the nose is mostly the smell of carbonation, with sweet cherries underneath. The flavor is nice; sweet, but only mildly sweet. It has a kind of sharp acidity. Oddly (well, seems odd to me for a sweet wine), it does have noticeable tannins. It's a pleasant wine, and fairly unusual, but not destined to become one of my favorites. That's probably a good thing considering its relative unavailability in my area. | | Tasting Date: | 2005-01-29 | | Varietal: | Croatina | | Production Notes: | The grape known in the region as Bonarda is actually the Croatina grape. | | Price US$: | 7.49 | | Source: | Enoteca Regionale Emilia-Romagna |
