Thieves with Great Taste Steal $200K of Wine

It's not easy to steal $200,000 worth of wine from a restaurant. But the culprits behind this caper knew exactly which bottles to take.

An expensive restaurant in Vancouver was the target, and the thieves managed to make their great haul while taking a mere 65 bottles of wine. (That's an average of over $3000 per bottle, for you non-mathematicians out there.) The priciest wines taken included a series of Chateau Mouton Rothschild Bordeaux from 1946 to 1982, some signed by the late Baron Rothschild himself, and some by the famous artists who design the Rothschild label each year. The most expensive bottle was a 1945 Lafite Rothschild worth $7000.

The thieves didn't get everything, though. Two priceless bottles of Moet & Chandon Champagne from 1914 and 1921 were in the same cabinet as the stolen wine, and were simply left behind. The restauraneur speculated that the wines were so rare, they would have been particularly hard to sell. When there are only a few bottles of a particular wine left in the world, offering one on E-bay might raise more than a few bids.
